This summer, SocialFare’s activities continued with success, and in recent months two projects have brilliantly evolved: the TO-nite project was funded by the European Union with 5 million Euros, and the 7th Startup Acceleration Program by SocialFare just wrapped up.
Indeed, in July, the acceleration program for social impact startups launched by SocialFare came to an end through the seventh edition of the FUNDAMENTA call. The call led to the selection of four startups from 180 applications received, whose work focuses on activities capable of generating social impact:
The startups followed a full-time program with the support of a dedicated team and prestigious mentors and advisors, and also received seed capital through the SocialFare Seed investment vehicle. The aim of the program was to prepare startups to introduce themselves to investors interested in generating Social Impact through impact financing, during the 7th Social Impact Investor Day.
On August 5, the TO-nite project received a 4.6 million Euro grant from the UIA (Urban Innovative Actions) fund of the European Union. The project leader is the City of Turin, in partnership with SocialFare and Fondazione Wireless, Experientia, Engineering, European Forum for Urban Security (EFUS), Espereal Technologies and ANCI.
TO-nite aims to propose multidisciplinary solutions and actions to better understand urban social phenomena, and to address problems arising from the perception of insecurity. One of the actions envisaged is the testing of extended services, including at night, in different areas of the city, in terms of density, accessibility and attractiveness, redeveloping urban spaces and developing new economic networks to increase perceived safety and quality of life in communities.
The 2019 summer ends positively for SocialFare, thanks to the partnership between Compagnia di San Paolo and the Denegri Social Venture Foundation, finalized in June.
